About the Data Science & Analytics Team

The Data Science & Analytics team at Zipongo is diverse, agile, responsive to great ideas, and growing fast! If you’re passionate about using data to solve challenging problems around nutrition and wellness, then this is the place to be.

About You

You deeply understand user behavior.  You understand all the different ways to measure user activity, and how to separate the vanity numbers from the metrics that truly reflect happy and engaged users.  And you know the tools to use to influence them.

You’re a growth hacker.  When you get your fingers on behavioral information and user audience levers, trends start going super-linear.  And they that stay that way.

You are a crack business analyst.  And can translate broad business objectives and questions into structured analyses proficiently, with minimal guidance and little back-and-forth spec’ing out or formalizing requirements. You’ve seen the problem statement - or something close to it - before, and can guide on how to get to results quickly.

You like data.  Working with it.  Wading around waist deep in it.  Sometimes it’s perfectly formed and makes perfect sense, but other times it needs a little help -- but none of that frightens you.  You pull in reinforcements and other specialists when necessary, but most of the time can shape things quickly into what you need to get questions answered.  You can write your own SQL, master a pivot table, navigate within reporting platforms, and occasionally spin out an engineered data asset.

You want to be part of a fast-moving startup environment.   You move and pivot quickly, and drop very few balls while doing so.   You can act tactically while also building strategically.  You love a challenge and thrive on opportunities to innovate collaboratively.  You have a personal interest in health and wellness and can get behind Zipongo's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the product teams to test, craft, and measure product experiences that drive towards increased retention and meaningful long term engagement.
  • Wrangle data from the company’s analytic ecosystem -- across product usage logs, marketing activity, and user attribution systems -- in order to identify behavioral trends and drive towards product features that are resonant with end users.
  • Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations, and influence the direction of the business by effectively communicating metrics and results to cross functional groups and stakeholders.
  • Evangelize data-driven targeting initiatives and bootstrap the creation of tools to enable them.  
  • Socialize the usage and train a broader audience of product owners and marketing analysts to be self-enabled with any created assets.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis to provide insights across all departments in the company, and extrapolate from any ad hoc work to inform and build assets for sustained repeatability.

What we're looking for

  • Experience guiding mid-stage startups or consumer apps systematically towards market dominance.
  • Ability to work with product teams, client management, marketing, design, and other stakeholders to develop strategic planning, and achievement and measurement of outcomes.
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Business acumen and leadership skills.

Bonus points for

  • Nutrition/culinary/health knowledge and interest -- experience in the Health Tech field a plus.  
  • Formal experience in a scripting or programming language.
  • Statistical and modeling experience.
